This recordset fully covers the following:

• 1821/1831 Census Returns
  • Before 1841 census information is very rare, although we do hold some private transcripts. Where transcripts are available, they often have only basic information, such as Surname, Address and Area.
• 1841/1851 Census Returns
  • These are the enumerators' schedules of the returns made by heads of households and include the names, age, sex and occupation of individual members of the population for England, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. In the 1841 returns ages of persons over 15 years were generally given only to the nearest five years; in 1851 exact ages were returned. In the 1841 returns it is noted whether, or not, persons were born in the same county as the return, or in Scotland, Ireland or Foreign Parts. In the 1851 returns the parish and county of birth are normally given.
• 1861 Census Returns
  • Enumerators' schedules of returns made by heads of households for the 1861 census, which include the names, age, sex, occupation and parish and county of birth of individual members of the population of England, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Included in this series are returns from ships of the Royal Navy and merchant shipping at sea and in ports abroad, and from British ships in home ports. The series also includes descriptions of the proposed enumeration districts for London.
